Weave Mural Dundee
Weave Mural
A new mural for Dundee, painted with Martin McGuinness on Brown Street. Had so much fun painting this one as it’s been a while since we have done a big figurative work together.
The work reflects the city’s evolution — from a global centre of textile innovation to a hub for education and digital creativity. At its heart is a large-scale portrait of a young woman. While not based on a specific individual, she represents the student population and the building’s current occupants.
Interwoven ribbons of colour form a stylised weave, referencing both the textile heritage of the site and the visual language of screen-based media. From afar, the bold forms and moiré patterns take shape. As you move closer, the portrait and fine weave structure emerge — subtle shifts in colour suggesting movement, time, and connection.
